On Sunday, Larry Johnson showed why.
The 29-year-old running back only picked up 49 yards on 13 carries in the 37-7 drubbing at the hands of the Chargers, and afterward, he took some time to take some (grammatically challenged) shots at first-year head coach Todd Haley.
"My father got more credentials than most of these pro coaches…..Google my father!!!!!!!" Johnson wrote, referring to his father's position as defensive line coach at Penn State.
"My father played for the coach from 'remember the titans'. Our coach played golf. My father played for the redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn"
Johnson's Twitter page is set to private, though Rotoworld.com reports that Johnson "continued the disturbing trend of using Twitter to remind fans that he's 'still richer than' them and they 'don't stop his checks.'"
Johnson's agent, Peter Schaffer, essentially confirmed that the messages were Johnson's doing, telling ESPN.com that Johnson “was focusing more on pumping up his father than anything else.”
“He wasn’t trying to downgrade anyone," Schaffer told ESPN. "Yes, everyone is frustrated after a loss like this but I wouldn’t put too much into it.”
Johnson has had his issues in the past, including four arrests for charges of assaulting women. His most recent charge came in October of 2008, when he was accused of spitting a drink in a woman's face at a nightclub.
His issues with the Chiefs included a holdout from 2007 training camp, which was resolved when Kansas City signed him to a six-year, $43.2 million extension, with $19 million guaranteed. Since then, he's gained just 1,742 yards on 467 carries (3.73 average) and eight touchdowns, missing 12 games in 2007-08, and his candidness on Twitter could have him missing a few more.
