Apparently Glen Davis won't just miss the Celtics highly anticipated season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. After injuring his thumb in a fight with a former college teammate, Davis will likely be suspended by the Celtics, The Boston Globe reports.

Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck told Gene Lavanchy on Fox 25 that a suspension for Davis was "very likely," and he later confirmed that report to the Globe.

"I've had enough of 'Big Baby,' so I'm going to start calling him Glen," Grousbeck told the Globe. "It certainly seems like there's going to be a suspension here."

The injury could leave Davis sidelined for up to two months with surgery a possibility. And even though Davis could contest a suspension by the Celtics, player contracts allow for teams to discipline players for fighting.

Davis signed a new two-year deal with the Celtics in the offseason and will earn $2.5 million each season. He also has a chance to make an additional $500,000 per season in incentives based on his weight.
