Source: Bill Belichick Apologized After Sending Players Home According to a source close to NESN, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick apologized recently to the team for the way he handled the situation on Dec. 9 when four players showed up tardy to a team meeting.

The players — Randy Moss, Adalius Thomas, Gary Guyton and Derrick Burgess — were sent home after arriving a few minutes late to an early-morning team meeting during a winter storm.

The report, first aired during Sunday night's edition of SportsDesk, surprised NESN Patriots insider and former New England linebacker Ted Johnson, who spent five seasons playing for Belichick.

"If this is true — and it sounds like it is — [then it's] unprecedented," Johnson said Sunday. "I'm in shock hearing this, quite honestly. Bill, he's a saint — he's kind of turned the page a bit and it's so uncanny and uncharacteristic to hear that, but you know what, he's got the best pulse on this team and he knows what he has to do."
