“Working out again … not sure I can add anything to that other than I feel it in every fiber of my being, every step I take,” Schilling’s original Twitter post said.
But when the Herald got in touch with him several hours later, Schilling said he was “just working out.” When asked if he was planning a comeback, the 43-year-old told the paper, “Nope.”
Schilling last pitched in the majors in Game 2 of the 2007 World Series when he allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win in the Red Sox’ 2-1 victory over the Rockies. He retired with a career record of 216-146 with a 3.46 ERA. In the postseason, he was 11-2 with a 2.23 ERA. He won three World Series titles — one with the Diamondbacks in 2001 and two with the Red Sox in 2004 and 2007.
