Report: Yankees Sign Randy Winn The last glimmer of hope among Yankees fans of bringing back Johnny Damon may have just faded away, as the team has reportedly signed Randy Winn, according to the New York Post. ESPN.com also reported that Winn signed a one-year deal in the neighborhood of $2 million, pending a physical.

ESPN adds that with the Yankees now seemingly out of the equation for Damon, he and agent Scott Boras will look to the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds.

Winn, 35, spent the last four-plus seasons in San Francisco. He is a career .286 hitter with 106 homers and 637 RBIs. His numbers dipped significantly last year, as his .262 average, two home runs and 51 RBIs were a far cry from his .306, 10-home run season in 2008.
