Headliner: After allowing a pair of first period goals, Canucks' keeper Roberto Luongo shut the Bruins out the rest of the way and came away with 41 saves including seven in overtime en route to his 30th win of the year.
Pavol Demitra had the game-tying goal in the third period and popped the lone shootout goal to pace the Canucks' offense.
Grinder: Marc Savard set up both first period goals to get the B’s on the board early. Savvy set up Zdeno Chara’s power play goal with a perfect backdoor pass before his shot from the point roughly 12 minutes later was redirected by Michael Ryder for his second helper of the day.
Weak Link: Milan Lucic was the lone skater to end the afternoon with a negative-2 rating and was partially to blame for the Canucks' tying goal as the winger skated past a loose puck just inside the B's zone seconds before Demitra's tally.
The Canucks’ penalty killing unit got off to a rough start as Tanner Glass’s crosschecking minor and Rick Rypien’s interference call both resulted in goals for the B’s power play unit.
Key Moment: Pavol Demitra's first goal of the season with about five minutes remaining in regulation tied things up at two goals apiece.
What’s Next:The B’s head to Montreal to take on the hated Habs in a Sunday afternoon affair north of the border. The B’s lost to their division rivals on Thursday night in Boston in shootouts. Montreal is 3-0-0 against the Black and Gold so far this season.
