Third Time's The Charm for Jeremy Hermida's New Jersey Number According to The Boston Globe, Red Sox outfielder Jeremy Hermida will wear jersey No. 32 this season, but it was not his first choice.

The former Marlin wore No. 27 during his time in Florida, but Hermida found out quickly the number was unavailable in Boston since it belonged to Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk.

"I found that out right away," Hermida told the Globe. "No deal."

Hermida's second choice was No. 23, but Mike Cameron's veteran status earned him the number he wore with the Brewers last season.

So Hermida opted for 32, a number he's happy to have.

"Good solid number," Hermida told the Globe. "There was no special reason, I just liked it."

The 26-year-old will join a list of Red Sox No. 32's that includes Mike Stanton, Derek Lowe and Bobby Kielty among others.
