Vikings' Jared Allen Welcomes 'Madden Curse' Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has no fear of opposing quarterbacks, recording 29 sacks over the last two seasons, so it’s easy to understand why he has no fears of the so-called “Madden Curse.”

According to NBCSports.com, the defensive end loves the Madden video game, and welcomes the opportunity to be this year’s cover star.

The “Madden Curse” has haunted previous cover stars including Vince Young, Shaun Alexander and Michael Vick in the past, but Allen has no reservations about appearing on the cover of this year’s edition of the game.

Madden has never done me wrong and all of my characters in the past have been pretty awesome,” Allen told ESPN.com. “A lot of people come up to me and tell me that they’re sacking the crap out of the quarterback in the game.”

Fans will choose between Allen, Reggie Wayne and Drew Brees to determine who will grace the cover of Madden NFL 11. The vote will run until March 15.

Allen will bring his unique style to the cover if he wins the competition.

“If I make the cover, I’m going to straighten my mullet and make it as trashy as possible,” Allen said. “You have to highlight the tools that got you there.”
