NESN.com reporter James Murphy joined Cole Wright on SportsDesk Sunday night to talk about all things Bruins, most notably Marc Savard‘s concussion-inducing hit.
“It’s got to be good that [Savard] is not in the hospital right now,” Murphy noted. “You never want to see that in sports, period.”
Murphy also mentioned that as improbable as it sounds, Matt Cooke did not deserve a penalty against Savard according to the rule book. He also mentioned that NHL GMs will meet this week to speak about eliminating blindside hits, which takes on added importance after the Savard hit.
As for not going after Cooke, Murphy noted that the game was still close, and the Bruins needed a goal to tie things up. The Bruins had to put the incident out of their minds and focus on getting a goal.
Murphy also touched on Tim Thomas‘ play and what he will mean to the Bruins moving forward. Check out the video for more.
