With Torres leaving Columbus for a second-rounder and Nathan Paetsch, it'll be interesting to know what the Blue Jackets wanted from the B's.
We might find out at 4:30 p.m., when Chiarelli meets the Boston media. That will air live on NESN.
4:13 p.m.: We've got the details on the Yelle trade. Carolina gets Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and a sixth-round pick, while Colorado gets Yelle and Harrison Reed.
4:07 p.m.: Another trade, as first reported by David Pagnotta. Flames get Steve Staios, sending Aaron Johnson and a third-round pick to Edmonton.
3:59 p.m.: That's why we don't call things prematurely around here. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that the Blue Jackets traded Alex Picard to Phoenix for Chad Kotalik.
3:55 p.m.: I'm not sure we're done yet, but it's been a while since a move has been announced.
3:49 p.m.: CSNNE's Joe Haggerty said via Twitter that the Bruins talked with the Leafs about Kaberle. After the Bruins got all the Leafs' picks for Phil Kessel, the B's probably weren't eager to give them right back.
3:41 p.m.: Another one: Flames trade Dustin Boyd to Nashville, as reported by David Pagnotta.
Bob McKenzie just added that it's a fourth-round pick going to Calgary.
3:39 p.m.: Just when you think it's over … the Maple Leafs get Chris Peluso from Pittsburgh in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
3:37 p.m.: Dennis Seidenberg will be calling in to NESN shortly.
3:35 p.m.: The Vishnovsky deal sends Ryan Whitney to Edmonton.
3:33 p.m.: David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has been on top of these moves all day. The latest? Lubomir Vishnovsky to the Ducks. Anaheim's been busy all day.
3:31 p.m.: Another trade comes through the news circuit, this one a Blue Jackets-Panthers swap. Mathieu Roy will head to Columbus, and Matt Rust will go to Florida.
3:29 p.m.: Sad statement on Bruins, from CSNNE.com reporter Joe Haggerty (via Twitter):
"I'll give Peter Chiarelli credit for sticking to his guns and refusing to overpay for anything out there. But making no moves for a forward has to tell you about how they feel about this Bruins team's potential in the playoffs this season."
3:28 p.m.: Update on the Alberts trade: Vancouver sends a third-round pick to Carolina. The Canucks are currently in third place in the West.
3:26 p.m.: Washington has picked up Scott Walker, Eric Belanger, Milan Jurcina and Joe Corvo today, losing just two players (Brian Pothier and Oskar Osala) and three draft picks (a second-, sixth- and seventh-rounder).
I would say that's a good job by George McPhee.
3:24 p.m.: Marco Sturm is on NESN right now, looking excited to be playing with fellow German Dennis Seidenberg. The pair just played together in the Olympics.
(Side note: If you haven't seen Sturm's goal from Tuesday night, it was pretty cool.)
3:17 p.m.: Joe McDonald has been traded from Toronto to Anaheim for a 2011 draft pick, says TSN.
3:16 p.m.: TSN's Bob McKenzie puts the stamp on the Bruins' day: "Boston did not make any more trades."
3:14 p.m.: More deals. How are you keeping up?
First, the Modin deal went through. He'll be a King, traded for "future considerations."
Also, The Fourth Period reports that Andrew Alberts is heading to Vancouver. That's not been reported elsewhere yet, so stay tuned on that.
3:10 p.m.: Stephane Yelle has also been traded from Carolina, according to McKenzie. There is unloading a team, and then there is what the Hurricanes did this afternoon.
Canes fans might not be able to recognize the team on the ice on Thursday night.
3:09 p.m.: Update on Stempniak: He's going to Phoenix in exchange for a couple of draft picks, per TSN.
3:08 p.m.: Wondering why not all deals are announced at 3 p.m.? Mike Milbury just explained on NESN that this time is typically when GMs call or talk to their players to tell them they've been traded. It's always a bit more pleasant to learn from your boss than to learn from the media.
3:07 p.m.: Did the Kings and Blue Jackets pull off a buzzer-beater? Frederik Modin was apparently on his way to L.A., but the teams might not have gotten a deal done before 3 p.m. Stay tuned for that one.
3:03 p.m.: From the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch: "The Bruins are done. There won't be any deals in Beantown for a forward."
If that's true, Bruins fans will not be happy.
3 p.m.: Deadline is here. Time for the deals to break now. Twelve of them broke after the 3 p.m. deadline last year.
2:59 p.m.: TSN says Dan Hamhuis won't be traded, though ESPN says that the Blues have made a big offer (Brad Boyes and Carlo Colaiacovo).

2:57 p.m.: Bruins deadline deal montage on NESN right now. Don't know how that 2003-04 team failed so quickly in the playoffs. Still don't know.
2:52 p.m.: Hey we got another one. Milan Jurcina is going back to Washington. He was traded from the Caps to the Blue Jackets in December, and now he's traded back to Washington. Details to follow.
2:49 p.m.: Keep in mind, the deadline is at 3 p.m., but I'd expect some deals to be announced through 3:30 or 4 p.m. So even though we technically have 10 minutes left, we should be able to stretch out some more excitement.
2:48 p.m.: Bob McKenzie is pulling no punches: "Ray Whitney is not being traded by Carolina."
2:47 p.m.: Just noticed this comment below. Hilarious: "FireGuyFrank said … 106.7 The Fan (WJFK-FM0 in Washington D.C. is talking about the NFL Pro Bowl. Really, fellas? And they wonder why the Capitals don't make the area hockey crazy. Puh-leeze."
2:45 p.m.: Darren Dreger says Toronto's move will involve … Lee Stempniak.
2:42 p.m.: The Thrashers are sending a pair of picks to Buffalo. Third- and fourth-rounders. MacArthur has 13 goals, 13 assists and a minus-14 rating this year.
2:38 p.m.: Tantalizing Tweet from Darren Dreger: "Leafs aren't done. stay turned"
I'm going to assume he meant "tuned."
2:36 p.m.: "According to good source, Roloson and Biron both expected to still be Islanders when deadline expires at 3 p.m." Source: Katie Strang of Newsday.
2:34 p.m.: Tick. Tock. Twenty-six minutes.
2:29 p.m.: Looks like the Blue Jackets weren't looking for that first-rounder anymore, as Paetsch was a seventh-round pick in 2003 and has played in just 157 games in his career.
2:28 p.m.: Columbus Post Dispatch reports Torres is indeed on the way to Buffalo, with the Sabres sending Nathan Paetsch and a second-round pick to Columbus.
2:25 p.m.: Raffi Torres may be on the move to Buffalo. Details, if the deal turns out to be real, will follow.
2:22 p.m.: More from LeBrun on the Bruins: "I think the Bruins are trying to add some offense but so far no luck."

2:20 p.m.: It's about to get exciting. Forty minutes to go. What do we got, NHL?
2:14 p.m.: ESPN's Pierre LeBrun said that the Hurricanes think Joe Corvo could be on the move. Time is running out.
2:10 p.m.: Here are two more moves for you:
Flames get goalie Vesa Toskala (who's on the move for the second time in a month) and the Ducks get goalie Curtis McElhinney. Toskala will backup fellow Finn Miikka Kiprusoff.
Also, the Capitals have picked up Eric Belanger from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2010 second-round pick.
2:04 p.m.: It looks like Derek Morris is happy to head back to Phoenix.
"I was asked four days ago to waive my no move to go to Arizona," the defenseman said in a conference call. "I was a little bit shocked by it at the time. I came back to my wife and my family. I never told my kids right away what was going on because I knew how things could fall through and I didn't want to get them all excited to go back."
2:02 p.m.: Deja vu in the Tomas Kaberle saga. One year ago, we were following his every move and hanging on his every word. Will he be on the move for real this year? We'll find out in the next 58 minutes.
1:54 p.m.: NESN.com's James Murphy just talked with a Penguins source, and the Pens are likely done dealing.
1:51 p.m.: The NHL Network reports that the Kings send Teddy Purcell and a third-round draft pick for Halpern.
1:44 p.m.: Here's another Bruins rumor: Keith Tkachuk may be back in play. Craig Custance of The Sporting News says via Twitter that the B's are again interested in the Massachusetts native, but Tkachuk hasn't given any indication that he'd like to move back home.
1:40 p.m.: There have been rumors that the Capitals have been in talks with the Bruins regarding Tim Thomas. The idea sounded ridiculous to begin with, and ESPN's Pierre LeBrun confirmed them as such: "FYI, Scott [Burnside] and I have checked into the Caps-Bruins rumors involving Thomas and told by both ends: 'Not true.'"
So there's that.
1:36 p.m.: We've got a pair of moves to report, both from TSN.
The Kings have picked up Jeff Halpern from the Lightning, and it's not yet reported what the Kings will send to Tampa.
The Coyotes have also acquired defenseman Mathieu Schneider for a draft pick.
1:14 p.m.: Word from Murph is that the Blue Jackets are looking for a first-rounder for Raffi Torres.
1:04 p.m.: Dan Hamhuis is expected by many to stay put in Nashville, but there's still a good amount of time left for a team to work something out for him.
12:55 p.m.: Despite GM Ken Holland's insistence that the Red Wings wouldn't be active today, the Red Wings have made a trade.
The Wings got Jordan Owens from the Rangers, sending Kris Newbury to New York in exchange. Not exactly a blockbuster there, so I suppose Holland stays true to his word.
12:51 p.m.: The Avalanche also picked up Kevin porter in that swap.
12:48 p.m.: That didn't take long at all. Multiple sources reported that Mueller was traded to Colorado. Phoenix will get Wojtek Wolski in return.
12:44 p.m.: There were no moves for a few minutes there, I was starting to get worried. Fortunately, the Blues and Canucks just agreed on a trade, per TSN.
Yan Stastny will go to Vancouver and Pierre-Cedric Labrie will be on his way to St. Louis.
In other news, LeBrun believes Peter Mueller of the Coyotes could be traded shortly.
12:33 p.m.: ESPN is reporting that Washington only had to give up a seventh-round pick for Walker. Translation: a bag of pucks.
12:27 p.m.: Scott Walker has been traded from Carolina to Washington, according to ESPN. Details to follow.
12:17 p.m.: Darren Dreger of TSN says that it's unlikely that Ray Whitney will be traded.
12:12 p.m.: The Oilers have picked up Ryan Jones off waivers from Nashville. The 25-year-old has 11 points in 41 games this year.
12:11 p.m.: ESPN's Pierre LeBrun thinks that the Panthers got great value for Seidenberg: "They got a regular in Bitz with upside, a prospect in Weller that people like a lot and mostly for a UFA-to-be… Great job by Randy Sexton."
11:50 a.m.: Here's a quick-hit analysis on the Seidenberg deal.
Bitz was instantly a fan favorite in Boston, where physicality is revered above all else. His production, though, never rose to a useful level, and he found himself as the healthy scratch on many nights. This year, he has nine points and a minus-9 rating.
Seidenberg fills the recently opened void on the blue line left by Derek Morris' departure. He has two goals and 23 assists this season, and his $2.25 million salary is more than $1 million less than what Morris was making.
With an addition $600,000 or so off the books with Bitz's departure, the Bruins still have some wiggle room for another deal, though this pickup could be it for the day. Still three hours left on the clock.
11:49 a.m.: Aaron Ward is on the move, according to Bob McKenzie. Ward is heading from Carolina to Anaheim, with the Ducks sending goaltender Justin Pogge and a fourth-round pick to the East Coast.

11:41 a.m.: The Bruins are on the move again, this time reportedly acquiring defenseman Dennis Seidenberg from the Florida Panthers.
TSN and the NHL Network reported the deal, and NESN.com's James Murphy confirmed it. We'll post the details shortly.
11:24 a.m.: We've got a bout 210 minutes left until the deadline. The ticks and tocks are getting louder in NHL conference rooms around the league.
11:21 a.m.: McKenzie now reports that the Leafs picked up a fifth-rounder in the Skoula deal.
11:19 a.m.: Will we see any trades like this one today?
I'm going with no.
11:17 a.m.: The Fourth Period is reporting that the Coyotes are now in the hunt for a top-six forward.
After all that off-the-ice issues with that franchise in the offseason, how surprising is it to see the team in fifth place in the West working as a buyer at the deadline?
11:13 a.m.: Here's a look inside the Bruins' "war room," courtesy of the B's official Twitter page.
Not a lot of "war" going on just yet.
11:02 a.m.: The Maple Leafs acquired Martin Skoula on Tuesday … and traded him to New Jersey on Wednesday.
Still awaiting word on what Toronto will receive in return.
10:59 a.m.: TSN reported that Morris was told that he wouldn't be traded, only to find out this morning that he'd be on the move.
Morris had the second-most points among Bruins defensemen with 25, trailing only Zdeno Chara (34).
10:51 a.m.: James Murphy has confirmed that Morris has been traded to Phoenix for the draft pick.
10:48 a.m.: It's not official yet, but TSN reported that the Bruins sent defenseman Derek Morris to Phoenix in exchange for a 2011 fourth-round pick.
That obviously doesn't help the Bruins right now on the ice, but it clears up some cap room for potential deals later in the day.
10:25 a.m.: Interesting Tweet from TSN's Bob McKenzie: "Tampa Bay players
have been told their flight has been pushed back to 3:30 ET and not to
be surprised if there are moves made."
10:16 a.m.: It's early, but it looks like we have our first conflicting report of the day!
NESN.com's James Murphy is hearing that the Bruins are still in the hunt for Whitney, adding that Joe Corvo could be included in a package to Boston.
9:53 a.m.: NESN.com's James Murphy is hearing that Tomas Kaberle still might waive his no-trade clause, but a source informed Murph that there's nothing yet that's inspired him to do so.
9:45 a.m.: CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty is reporting that the Bruins are no longer involved in Ray Whitney discussions.
Not a huge surprise there, as Whitney was reportedly looking for a three-year extension with any team that acquired him. The Bruins picked up Mark Recchi last year at the deadline, but I'm not sure signing a soon-to-be 38-year-old is in their best interest.
9:41 a.m.: Nick Kypreos of Rogers Sportsnet reports via Twitter that Tomas Vokoun will waive his no-trade clause for a select number of contending teams only.Chicago, perhaps?
9:13 a.m.: There will obviously be a lot of Bruins fans on here today, so let's take a look at what exactly the team has in terms of first- and second-round draft picks over the next two years.
In 2010, the B's will have:
- Their own first-round pick
- Toronto's first-round pick (Phil Kessel trade)
- Their own second-round pick
- Tampa Bay's second-round pick (Lashoff/Karsums for Recchi trade)
- Toronto's second-round pick (Kessel)
In 2011, the Bruins have:
- Their own first-round pick
- Toronto's first-round pick (Kessel)
- Their own second-round pick
- Minnesota's second-round pick (Chuck Kobasew trade)
Looking at all those picks acquired from Toronto for Kessel, it would be more than a little surprising to see the Bruins hang on to them. Obviously, the B's have some cap considerations to deal with, but it'd be hard to believe Peter Chiarelli stands pat this afternoon.
8:52 a.m.: In case you missed any trades on Tuesday, here's what went down around the league:
The Penguins acquired Jordan Leopold from Florida in exchange for a second-round pick in 2010.
The Penguins also acquired Alex Ponikarovsky from Toronto, sending Luca Caputi and Martin Skoula to the Great White North.
The Blackhawks and Blues made a trade, with goaltender and former University of Vermont Catamount Joe Fallon going to the St. Louis organization and former Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen and defenseman Danny Richmond heading to Chicago's.
The Blackhawks also added Nick Boynton,
The Oilers sent Denis Grebeshkov to Nashville (seventh place in the West) for a 2010 second-round pick.
The Blue Jackets and Islanders swapped forward Greg Moore and defenseman Dylan Reese.
The Thrashers acquired Evgeny Arthyukhin from Anaheim in exchange for Nathan Oystrick and a conditional pick.
The Bruins picked up the rights to University of Michigan defenseman Steven Kampfer in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick. The B's also picked up Cody Wild — former Providence Friar — for AHLer Matt Marquardt.
The Canadiens acquired Aaron Palushnaj and sent Matt D'Agostini to St. Louis.
The Senators acquired defenseman Andy Sutton from the Islanders, sending a second-round pick to New York.
8:47 a.m.: With 25 of the NHL's 30 teams within six points of a playoff spot, Wednesday's 3 p.m. trading deadline will make or break a number of teams' chances to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup in June.
