In Super Bowl XXXVI, he lifted the Patriots over the Rams with a 48-yard field goal on the final play of the game, and two years later, he nailed a 41-yarder with four seconds left in Super Bowl XXXVIII to give the Patriots a Super Bowl win over the Panthers. The league leader in scoring in 2004 with 141 points, Vinatieri finished his Patriots career as the team’s all-time leading scorer with 1,158 points.

Not long after, he was climbing the boxing ladder on his way to a storied career in the ring. In 1973, Hagler became the National AAU 165-pound champion by defeating Atlanta’s Terry Dobbs. Hagler was named the outstanding boxer of the tournament, winning four fights, and was soon on his way to dominating the professional ranks en route to being named champion. The former undisputed middleweight champion of the world, Hagler was named Fighter of the Year by Ring Magazine in 1983 and 1985. The 5-foot-9 southpaw posted a career record of 62-3-2 with 52 knockouts and was inducted into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993.
