Orioles catcher Matt Wieters broke into the big leagues in 2009 with plenty of hype and the rookie backstop responded with a .288 batting average, nine home runs and 43 RBIs in 96 games.
Now, a year later with the everyday starting catcher role etched in stone, the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder has been able to keep it going as he’s hitting .318 with a .760 OPS, one homer and eight RBIs through the first 17 games of the regular season.
The 23-year-old 2007 draft pick met up with Heidi Watney prior to the third and final game of the first Red Sox-Orioles series of the 2010 season.
