The Maine Black Bears are known for a two things: great hockey and beautiful basketball players.
Katie Whittier, who just finished up her senior season with the women's hoops squad, followed in the footsteps of former teammate, Ashley Underwood, who won the Miss Maine title in 2009.
Whittier made it into the top five of Sunday night's 2010 Miss USA Pageant, taking fifth place behind the winner from Michigan, Rima Fakih.
The 6-foot-2 forward and business marketing major averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in her senior season for the Black Bears. As a junior, she led the team in field-goal percentage at .623, which was also tops in the conference.
