Edwin Jackson Blazes New Trail for Mohawked Athletes in Spinning No-Hitter Against RaysEdwin Jackson pitched a no-hitter on Friday night, but that’s not the real story.

The 26-year-old righty sported a Mohawk under that red Diamondbacks cap in Tampa Bay, and it may have provided him that extra bit of strength to muscle out the 149-pitch performance.

Jackson, who is on his fourth major league team, walked eight batters and pitched around an error in keeping the Rays without a hit. And the Mohawk lives on.

–Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch, on Jackson’s pitch count. The 149 pitches thrown were the most by any pitcher in a nine-inning game since Livan Hernandez threw 150 in 2005.
