Red Sox Could Call Upon Amherst High School Lefty Kevin Ziomek in MLB Draft

Red Sox Could Call Upon Amherst High School Lefty Kevin Ziomek in MLB Draft First it was Manny Delcarmen in 2000. Then it was Ryan Westmoreland in 2008. Could Kevin Ziomek be next?

Certainly, according to Peter Gammons.

NESN’s Red Sox insider said on Friday that the Amherst (Mass.) High School southpaw could be plucked by the Sox in the upcoming MLB draft. Delcarmen of Hyde Park, Mass. and Westmoreland from Portsmouth, RI are two other local boys to get nabbed by the Sox in the MLB draft.

“Maybe the highest-rated player of them all, the pitcher out of Amherst High School, Kevin Ziomek, left-handed pitcher, he’s headed to Vanderbilt,” said Gammons. “The Red Sox would take him in the fifth or seventh round and could give him the money to be a Red Sox.”
