Red Sox Looking for Answers to Outfield Injury Problems

Red Sox Looking for Answers to Outfield Injury Problems Friday’s Red Sox GameDay Live took a look at the injury problems facing the Red Sox in the outfield and some potential solutions.

NESN’s Tom Caron and Hall of Famers Peter Gammons and Jim Rice discussed what the Red Sox are looking into to get through the current rash of injuries to their outfield. Friday, Jeremy Hermida was placed on the 15-day disabled list, one night after it was divulged that Jacoby Ellsbury will need at least another two weeks to heal another cracked rib.

“They are looking for another center fielder, preferably a left-handed hitter,” Gammons said. “It may be very tough to come by. I know they’ll work at it.”

Despite the notion that the Red Sox might be in the market for another outfielder, Gammons also praised Darnell McDonald and Bill Hall who have filled in for the Sox.
