Kevin Youkilis, how can you not love the guy?
He is not only a cornerstone in the Red Sox organization, but he also gives back to the Boston community.
On Friday morning, Youkilis was signing copies of his new CD compilation, Music Hits Home, for his charity ‘Hits for Kids’ at Newbury Comics in Faneuil Hall.
The benefit album features tracks by a variety of bands and solo artists including Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers and Boston’s own Dropkick Murphys. The proceeds of the CD sales are split between Youk’s charity and local charity, Christopher’s Haven.
Fans began showing up to the event at 6:30 a.m. to catch a glimpse of Youkilis and to show support for his charity.
“This city is unbelievable and the philanthropic work in the Northeast is unmatched,” Youkilis told NESN’s Kathryn Tappen. “We’re very fortunate that it allows us to do well and have a charity that lasts and does great things for kids.”
