The Little League teams from New Hampshire and Connecticut each earned victories on the sixth day of competition in the New England Regional Tournament, advancing them to the New England Regional Semifinals.
New Hampshire squeaked out a 4-3 win in the first game of the day, when first baseman Justin Lent smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead over Vermont. Connecticut and Massachusetts went into extra innings in game two of the day, battling a 7-7 tie. Nick Nardone of Connecticut broke the tie in the top of the seventh with a two-run shot to lead his team to a 9-7 victory.
Vermont also earns the opportunity to advance, and will take on Rhode Island in the Semifinals on Thursday at 5 p.m. New Hampshire and Connecticut will duke it out in the second semifinal game at 8 p.m. Both games will air live on NESN.
