Dodgers Superfan Bryan Cranston Continues Emmy Awards Dynasty

Dodgers Superfan Bryan Cranston Continues Emmy Awards Dynasty In Los Angeles, celebrities usually show up at sporting events to get good publicity or because it’s trendy.

Every single clock stoppage at Lakers games results in the camera turning to whichever actors or pop stars decided to show up that night.

Actual celebrity sports fans in Tinsel Town are somewhat of a rarity, but six-time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston is as legit as they get.

Sure, the Breaking Bad star makes his requisite appearances at Dodgers celebrity softball games, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Cranston has been an avid Dodgers memorabilia collector since his childhood, when the team moved to from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. He saved up Bazooka comics for baseball pennants as a kid — which he still has, and still maintains a card collection.

He even attends Dodgers spring training and Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes games, as well as going to week-long Dodgers fantasy camps where he gets to hang out with the heroes of his youth.

“You play baseball,
morning, noon and night, talk baseball, have lunch next to Duke Snider
and all these other old time Dodgers and things like that. The younger
Dodgers and the ‘70s Dodgers and the ‘60s Dodgers are there. It’s
fantastic, so much fun,” Cranston told craveonline.com of the camp.

Basically, he grew up on the Dodgers.

“I grew up with Dodger Stadium. It was my home, and I knew
certain things, even when times were rough or things not going well in
school or my parents splitting up or whatever the case may be,” he told ESPN. “I could
always depend on the smell of the grass, listening to Vin Scully‘s voice
to bring back a sense of calm and safety. And it was that to me. It
represented something, a touchstone, that was always there that I could
always go to in times of trouble, and it was there for me.

“I really grew to passionately love the game for those reasons, for what
it meant to me, not just physically but emotionally,” he added. “It’s that
important. And when Vin Scully finally retires, it will be a very sad
day for me.”

As for steroids in baseball, let’s just say Cranston isn’t that concerned.

“I use steroids when I act, it just makes me act better,” he quipped.
