Andre Ethier can now be placed among Adrian Gonzalez, Jason Werth, Carl Crawford and Prince Fielder on the list of All Star subjects of Red Sox acquisition gossip.

Ethier, though, did something that none of the others have done. He explicitly said that he wants to come to Boston.

According to CSNNE.com, Ethier told friends that he would like to come to the Red Sox.

Ethier, who has struggled with injuries in 2010, still has managed to hit 21 home runs and bat .286 with an .842 OPS in 123 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season.

2010 was his first All Star appearance, though he was sixth in the MVP voting in 2009 after hitting 31 homers.

He also is a consistent fielder, ranking first in fielding percentage among NL right fielders in 2010 and going all of 2008 without an error.

Ethier, though, is under contract in 2011 for $9.25 million and won't be a free agent until 2013.

Still, with a minor league system like the Sox have, it may be possible for them to come up with a trade package that would suit the Dodgers.

If Ethier were to come to Boston, it would also re-unite him with Dustin Pedroia. The two are workout partners in the offseason and are buddies from their playing days at Arizona State.
