Brad Childress Critical of Brett Favre in Postgame News Conference It's hard to feel bad for the Minnesota Vikings.

After all, they were the ones who begged and pleaded for Brett Favre to come back, even giving him a pay raise to play out the 2010 season. Through six games, he may have played them out of playoff contention.

The ol' gunslinger, in the midst of a needless controversy that's now gotten him mocked on Saturday Night Live, was pretty terrible on Sunday night in Green Bay, throwing three interceptions that killed the Vikings' chances.

After the game, which Green Bay won 28-24, Vikings head coach Brad Childress didn't exactly have No. 4's back.

"You can't throw it to them, you've got to play within the confines of our system," Childress said of Favre's penchant for completing passes to his former team. "Sometimes it's OK to punt the football. You can't give seven points going the other way, not in a game like this."

The points given away came midway through the third quarter, when Desmond Jennings stepped in front of a Favre pass on the 32-yard line and took it to the house for six points.

Favre finished the game with three picks, all of which came in the second half — and all of which looked ugly.

Not as ugly as the situation looks for the Vikings, who are 2-4 and have a date with the 5-1 Patriots next week. They'll bring an 0-3 road record to New England, but will they bring a different quarterback?

Childress admitted he entertained the thought of pulling Favre from Sunday night's game, so he'll likely have a short leash, so to speak, next weekend in Foxboro.

Favre's injuries may make the decision for Childress, as the quarterback was hobbling all over the place in his former stomping grounds on Sunday.

"If I can play but not be effective, then it's not worth playing," Favre said in his postgame news conference. "I'm no spring chicken anymore. I don't heal as quickly. I know the heart's in the right place, though. I know I left it on the field. it just disappointing that it didn't work our way."

Favre has now thrown 10 interceptions this season, compared to just seven touchdowns. Last season, he threw 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
