If it’s heat you’re interested in during this winter’s hot stove talk, you’re in luck.
With help from Fangraphs.com, MLB Trade Rumors compiled a list of the Top 10 hardest-throwing pitchers (from the 2010 season) who are entering the free-agent pool this offseason.
This list consists of pitchers who threw at least 20 innings in 2010, and excludes Bobby Jenks, who will top the list with an average of 95 mph, if he’s nontendered.
Here’s the list, and how hard they throw.
1. Kyle Farnsworth, 94.9 average mph
2. Jesse Crain, 94.8
3. Kerry Wood, 94.4
4. J.J. Putz , 94.0
4. Jose Contreras, 94.0
4. Joaquin Benoit, 94.0
7. Guillermo Mota, 93.9
8. Frank Francisco, 93.4
9. Rafael Soriano, 92.9
10. Jason Frasor, 92.8
Putz tops the list with seven wins and averaged 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings, while Benoit led the group with a 1.34 ERA. Soriano notched 45 saves this summer, most in the American League.
