Hunter Mahan Can't Wrap Up Miracle Comeback as Graeme McDowell Leads Europe to Ryder Cup Victory Despite Ryder Cup rookie Rickie Fowler keeping the Americans’ hopes up on the final day, Europe’s Graeme McDowell was able to seal the deal for Europe with a little help from opponent Hunter Mahan.

Mahan was down two holes with two to go and didn’t help himself out when his tee shot on the 17th went well short of the green. His next shot was flubbed to the fringe, and with McDowell’s second shot creeping within a tap-in, the pressure was on Mahan, whose only way to keep the Americans afloat was a nearly impossible deep putt.

Mahan’s putt went short and the American conceded the hole to McDowell before the course erupted in celebration.

It was the Europeans’ fourth Ryder Cup win in the last five years.
