Should Patriots Fans Root for Randy Moss Against Jets? There were many Patriots fans who felt that the time had come to get rid of Randy Moss, as they felt he had become too much of a distraction. Those fans may be in for an awkward Monday night.

That's because Moss and his new (and also "old") team, the Vikings, will be in the Meadowlands on Monday night to take on the Jets.

The Patriots are currently looking up in the AFC East standings at the Jets and would obviously appreciate every Jets loss they can get. Days after a messy exit from Foxboro, Moss can actually help the Patriots one more time.

Moss gives the Vikings a deep threat they've sorely missed all season, especially with the injury to Sidney Rice. The addition of Moss could help Brett Favre turn his season around. It was Favre, after all, who lobbied for the Packers to acquire the receiver from Oakland in '07, shortly before the Raiders shipped him to New England.

Favre will likely target Moss a lot on Monday night. It's pretty safe to assume that if the Vikings are to win, Moss will play a pretty substantial part.

And while that may benefit the Patriots, it could be tough for fans to root for Moss. The final weeks of Moss in New England are becoming darker and darker. There was, of course, the public criticism of the front office on Moss' part, saying the Patriots don't pay. There was also his standoffish behavior at a benefit fundraiser earlier in the year as well as his Week 1 comments in which he said he wasn't really appreciated, even though Patriots fans have embraced him and his quirks from the beginning.

Moss really started to wear out his welcome within the past couple of weeks. Alleged spats with coaches and maybe quarterback Tom Brady ran the receiver out of town, much like they did with Manny Ramirez and the Red Sox.

Moss' off-field antics may be gone, but so are his on-field talents. For at least one more week, though, those talents could benefit the Patriots. So, should Patriots fans root for Randy Moss against the Jets? Share your comments below.
