Should the Red Sox Re-Sign Adrian Beltre?

Should the Red Sox Re-Sign Adrian Beltre? Victor Martinez has already flown the Fenway coop, should the Red Sox let Adrian Beltre do the same?

It seems like an easy answer, but pursuing the third baseman has already become a tough battle.

Initial attempts for the third baseman have already been denied by the Scott Boras’ client, as he refused the $10 million option offered by Boston in early November. Beltre posted a season of stellar stats, and without a doubt was the Red Sox’ MVP this season — and those facts alone are going to cost any team a pretty penny if they want Beltre on their side.

Beltre was one of the primary reasons the Red Sox stayed competitive for as long as they did in 2010. He may not have been the strongest defensive threat, but his presence at the plate is worth pursuing.

On the other hand, that performance is not guaranteed, and the Red Sox have proven that they don’t like to take pricey risks with aging players. Beltre is only 31, but locking him up on a multi-year contract (which Beltre is looking for) is a risk the Sox might look to avoid.
