Tim Thomas, Bruins Continue to Pass Every Test With Style Brian Leetch told me a couple weeks ago to "get used to" the outstanding play by Tim Thomas. Credit the Hall of Famer, because Thomas is now 7-0-0.

Wednesday’s win over Buffalo ties a career high for longest winning streak by Thomas and he’s made a little team history in the process. He's off to the best start by a goaltender in the history of the Bruins franchise.

Thomas sits atop the league in nearly every statistical category. His save percentage is .977 and he’s the only netminder with a goals against average under 1.00 — at 0.72, he is the lone tenant of "ridiculous" territory.

After the first game in which he allowed two goals this season, Thomas admitted it wasn't his fastest start ever. During the lockout that canceled the 2004-05 season, he racked up five shutouts in the first 10 games for the Jokerit of the Finnish league.

"I was able to ride that the whole year, so I hope the same thing happens," Thomas said.

The Bruins hope so, too.

But Thomas hasn't been setting records on his own on Causeway Street this season. Boasting a 5-0-0 record away from home, the Bruins are off to their best road start in franchise history. That fifth win, earned against a struggling Sabres team without their starting goaltender, may have looked easy. A 3-0 lead at the end of the first period, punctuated by two shorthanded goals, has a way of painting that picture. But this was one of those games that can be hard to win because a team knows it should win.

Simply put, the Bruins are playing better hockey than a lot of clubs right now, but they still have to go out and play it — and that's just what they're doing.

Claude Julien said after the 5-2 win on Wednesday that his team "kind of got comfortable there."

This is what every head coach hates seeing. Julien doesn't want to see his players get too comfortable out there; he wants to keep his team in check and see his players clicking on all cylinders through every situation, regardless of the score or opponent.

The B's get tested every game no matter who's on the ice or what city they're in, and right now, the B's are passing every test with style.
