World Cup Villain Luis Suarez Channels Inner-Mike Tyson, Bites Opponent Otman Bakkal During Scuffle The last time that Luis Suarez made international headlines, he was saving Uruguay’s World Cup by handballing Ghana’s would-be game-winning goal off the line with just seconds left in extra time.

He received a red card for that offense but not for what he did this past weekend. The club that Suarez captains, Ajax Amsterdam, was in the midst of a heated match with Dutch league rivals PSV when Ajax’s Rasmus Lindren was shown a red card for a tackle on PSV’s Ibrahim Affelay.

A scuffle ensued, and Suarez proceeded to bite PSV’s Otman Bakkal on the shoulder. Suarez was not assessed a foul or card for his Mike Tyson impersonation, but he was later suspended for two Dutch league games.

Still, he is eligible to play in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid, and he will presumably be captaining his team.

“I accept my punishment,” Suarez said, according to ESPN. “I was wrong. My reaction does not do Ajax’s image any good. As captain I have to set an example.”

He didn’t, however, want to go in to what exactly possessed him to go vampire on Bakkal.

“I would rather not talk about the behaviour of Bakkal but my action was worse,” he explained.

“I don’t know if he bit hard,” said Ajax manager Martin Jol.

All ended well, as Bakkal and Suarez left the field after the match arm-in-arm.
