While natural ability and skills can take you far, it's chemistry that gives a team that extra boost toward victory. Chemistry has been the central focus of the Boston Celtics ever since the new big three came together in 2007, and their opponents have definitely taken notice.
The stars in Miami realize they have a long way to go to match the Celtics' chemistry on the court, ESPN.com reports.
"We're way behind those guys," LeBron James said of the Celtics on Wednesday. "Just look at the number of games played, the number of playoff series those guys have had. We're only a few months in together — 40-something-plus games. I've seen the statistics. Boston has like 250-plus games played together."
Dwyane Wade has plenty of playoff experience under his belt, but he too realizes the potency of the C's chemistry when it comes to the postseason. In fact, there are several teams who are ahead of the Heat when it comes to team unity on the court.
"You talk about Boston, you talk about Orlando or the Lakers, we're never going to catch those guys in experience," Wade said. "I think the stat is — Boston is 30-15 in the playoffs since they've been together. We're 0-0."
The record is actually 30-17, but you get the point.
The Heat have yet to overtake the Celtics' chemistry in either matchup this season, but they'll get another shot this month as they face off on Feb. 13, at TD Garden. The Heat currently sit three games behind the Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
