Vote: Who Will Be the Red Sox' Most Valuable Reliever This Season? The Red Sox beefed up their lineup this offseason by adding Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez, but the team’s bullpen — anchored by Jonathan Papelbon and Daniel Bard — is expected to be one of the top units in the league, once again.

Joining Bard and Papelbon at the tail end of the pen is former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks. The big righty comes to Boston with 173 career saves to his name, including a career-high 41 saves in 2006 and 40 more in 2007.

Also expected to make a big impact this season is fellow newcomer Dan Wheeler, who has made 65 or more appearances in five of the last six seasons. The workhorse has a 3.84 career ERA to go with 23 wins, including 11 in the last three years in Tampa Bay.

Another key member of the pen will be lefty Hideki Okajima. Although Oki has had trouble living up to his impressive first year in the Hub, the southpaw sported a 1.32 ERA in 16 appearances upon returning from the DL late last season.
