"We're not thinking about retribution," Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban said, according to The Montreal Gazette. "This is all about getting two points. We're focused on hockey."
Subban has been deeply involved in the Bruins-Canadiens season series this year. He scored his first career regular-season goal against Boston in November, he crushed Brad Marchand with a thunderous hit in December, he was at the center of the shoving match with Zdeno Chara after the B's captain took offense to Max Pacioretty's shove following an overtime goal, and he was Johnny Boychuk's missed target before the B's defenseman was jumped by Ryan White two weeks ago.
Despite all that, despite the anticipated emotion following Pacioretty's injury, and despite the heightened sensitivity following Mark Recchi's comments on Pacioretty's injury, Subban and his teammates will have to focus on winning a hockey game, as they trail the Bruins by three points with just eight games remaining (the Bruins have 10 games left in their season).
Ignoring the hype won't be hard for the Habs' bench boss.
"I don't read the media," Jacques Martin said, according to ESPN.com. "I have enough responsibility with my team. I don't control what the opposition says and I know the importance of our game and that's all my focus is on."
