Which Former Celtics Bench Player From the 2008 NBA Championship Team Would You Want Back for the 2011 Playoffs? As the Celtics sprint to the finish in an effort to grab the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, playoff scenarios and questions are going to start sprouting up everywhere.

Who will the C’s play in the first round? Which team has enough gas in the tank to go all the way? Whose bench is strongest?

While the C’s had one of the deepest benches in the NBA heading into the trade deadline, the banged-up and new-look Celtics appear weak to some and they’ve proved such by going just 4-4 in their last eight contests.

Glen Davis was a beast off the bench all year but has been on a severe downfall. He averaged 13.5 points per game in December but fell to 12.3 points per game in January, 9.4 in February and 8.4 in March. By the time April rolls around, who knows how low Big Baby will go.

Jeff Green has picked up the slack in Baby’s absence, as the newcomer is chipping in with 11.2 points in just over 22 minutes per game as a Celtic. He’s even notched seven double-digit games in the month of March.

Who can the Celtics trust off the bench come crunch time this spring? Better yet, let’s get hypothetical. If you could have any former Celtics bench player from the 2008 title team who’s currently active in the NBA, which one would you choose?

The Garden will welcome back a couple of faces from that banner year on Wednesday night when Leon Powe and Tony Allen, both members of the Grizzlies, take the parquet. Powe is averaging 6.8 points per game in Memphis while Allen has 8.3.

Two other former Celtics players — Miami’s Eddie House and Indiana’s James Posey — may be meeting the Celts come playoff time as the Heat are expected to go deep and the Pacers are hanging on to the No. 8 seed. Which one of these clutch sharp shooters would you want back this spring?
