The Boston Marathon is special for many reasons, but there are definitely a few elements that make it a truly unique event.
Approximately 500,000 spectators showed up for the 115th annual race, and brought nearly $132 million in revenue to the Greater Boston area.
Per usual, marathon fans lined the 26.2 mile course in hordes, waving signs and shouting words of encouragement to the 26,895 marathon participants. This year, Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai broke the Boston Marathon course record with a time of 2:03:02.
