The B's handled the Senators in their home finale on Saturday before playing the equivalent of a scrimmage in a loss to New Jersey. Along the way, there were some dandies scored.
Daniel Paille, who's been on an unbelievable hot streak to end the season, crashed the Ottawa net in the first period, and he was rewarded with a perfect feed from linemate Gregory Campbell. Paille buried the opportunity to score the first goal of the game and his sixth of the season.
Later in the game, with the Bruins holding a 2-1 lead, Rich Peverley added the all-important insurance goal, and it was a beauty. Peverley carried the puck out of his own end and into the Senators' zone. He snuck past defenseman Chris Phillips along the boards, calmly carried the puck through the slot and eventually slipped a backhand past Curtis McElhinney.
The next day in New Jersey, Chris Kelly ended his season in style — literally. The forward planted himself in front of the net, and with just 3 seconds left in the regular season, he tipped home a Dennis Seidenberg shot to leave the Bruins with a good taste in their mouths heading into the playoffs.
