Micky Ward hasn't fought since 2003, but the Lowell native made such an impact during his boxing career that a film's been based on him.
Ward, subject of The Fighter, was honored at the 10th annual "The Tradition" at the TD Garden. The former WBU champion said that it gives him great pleasure to be recognized alongside other great Boston athletes.
He also said that he misses the excitement that comes with getting ready for a fight. He encouraged everyone to do what they aspire to, though, because he's living proof that anything really is possible.
