Rain at British Open ‘Like Walking Through a Car Wash,’ Tom Watson Makes Adjustments

The first two days of the British Open at Royal St. George's were like a walk in the park. On Saturday, the weather made the third round more like a good walk spoiled.

Sideways rain pounded the golfers, spectators and media members at the 140th Open Championship. It was a far cry from the windless start in Sandwich.

"It felt like walking through a car wash," wrote Cameron Morfit of golf.com, who left the press pavilion for about an hour Saturday.

The weather is wreaking havoc on the field, with the notable exception of 61-year-old Tom Watson. The five-time British Open champ has seen bad weather before and he was just one over through 14 holes.

The young whipper-snappers might be wondering where the sun is, while the old man is just playing golf.
