Clay Buchholz Reaches Third Step of Rehab Program, While J.D. Drew Focuses on Getting Swing Back

It remains to be seen whether or not Clay Buchholz will pitch again this season. Regardless, though, the young right-hander is doing what he can to ensure that it's at least a possibility.

NESN's Heidi Watney caught up with Buchholz before Saturday's Red Sox-Mariners matchup, at which point Buchholz revealed that he's currently in the midst of the third step of his five-step rehabilitation program. Buchholz will be able to resume throwing after reaching the fourth step, which he expects to happen in September.

Right fielder J.D. Drew is also continuing to work his way back from an injury. He said that he's been focusing on getting his swing back and will hit in the cage over the next few days before being reevaluated.
