The Eagles' cornerback is part of a star-studded secondary with Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but he's not happy about it. New York reporters asked him Wednesday if he could ever envision a swap to the Giants, a la new teammate Steve Smith.
"The way things are going this year, I guess I probably could," Samuel said, according to Philly.com.
When later asked for clarification, he didn't go to great lengths to try to sound like he cared at all about his team or teammates.
"Let me tell you what that means," Samuel said. "That means 2011-2012, I am an Eagle. 2012-2013, I don't know what's going to happen. … I was on the trade block this year, right?"
Perhaps someday this four-time Pro Bowler who's made big money in football will finally get the appreciation he feels he deserves. If he couldn't find it with a winning organization in New England and with a championship-caliber team in Philly, though, he may never get what he wants.
