Maine Head Hockey Coach Tim Whitehead Looks for Underclassmen to Step Up (Video)

Expectations are consistently high for Maine hockey, and with a large group of departed upperclassmen, it would be easy for Tim Whitehead to make excuses. Excuse him if he won't.

"We lost some key guys, but everybody did," said Whitehead. "The players are back, excited, ready to go."

Of course, the big game on the calendar is January 7, for Frozen Fenway 2012. UMaine will take on the Hampshire. The tickets nearly sold out in two days after they went on sale.

"It's just a great statement on the strength of our conference," said Whitehead.
