The Winnipeg Jets may have still been the Atlanta Thrashers, but a trade involving them and the Bruins last season has paid dividends for the Black and Gold, and it'll forever represent a link between the two franchises.
Prior to the trade deadline last season, the Bruins sent Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart to the Thrashers in exchange for Rich Peverley and Boris Valabik. Peverley, of course, was a huge part of the Bruins' Stanley Cup success and has since inked a multi-year deal with the club to continue to provide Boston with some offensive firepower.
Stuart and Wheeler admitted before the game that they had mixed emotions when watching the Bruins hoist Lord Stanley in June, although both appreciate the opportunity they had in Boston. Peverley expressed his appreciation for his time in Atlanta as well.
