The Bruins blew out the Sabres on Saturday night at the TD Garden behind some sparkling offensive performances from the likes of Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand. However, one could argue that night's most special moment came before the puck even dropped.
A day after Veteran's Day, Lieutenant Charlie Jacobs' parents were on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck in his honor, as he was serving his country in Afghanistan.
Or that's what his parents thought.
Just before the puck was to be dropped, the Jacobses got a tremendous surprise as their son emerged from the shadows, home for two weeks on a surprise leave that shocked his parents.
Of course, Lt. Jacobs had to keep the return quiet, especially considering he actually returned a few days earlier and had been hiding out at a friend's house. See his parents' reaction to that and much more behind-the-scenes footage from that special night in the video above.
