Laurie Fine, wife of Syracuse University associate head basketball coach Bernie Fine, appears to have had concerns that her husband was abusing boys as early as 2002 but felt powerless to stop it.

Bobby Davis, a former Orange waterboy who has accused Bernie Fine of sexually molesting him for years, legally recorded a phone call on Oct. 8, 2002, in which Laurie Fine discussed the alleged abuse in a recording replayed on ESPN.

"I know everything that went on, you know," she said in the call, broadcast on Outside the Lines. "I know everything that went on with him. … Bernie has issues, maybe that he's not aware of, but he has issues… and you trusted somebody you shouldn't have trusted."

Bernie Fine has vehemently denied the accusations, and Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim unequivocally voiced support for him.

But in the recording, Laurie Fine does not sound as convinced of her husband's innocence.

"Bernie is also in denial," she says in the conversation. "I think that he did the things he did, but he's somehow through his own mental telepathy has erased them out of his mind."

Laurie Fine's proposed solution in the call is for Davis to just stay away.

"It's not about the money," Davis says.

"It's about the d–k," Laurie Fine replies. "I know that. … I'm just telling you for your own good, you're better off just staying away from him."
