Vote: Are You Glad the NBA Is Back?Provided this isn’t just another close call in which one side swipes the deal off the table just when everyone believes an agreement has been reached, NBA games are expected to begin on Christmas Day.

The Celtics would be part of a marquee opening slate that includes a trip to Manhattan for the C’s to face the Knicks, the Mavericks hosting the Heat in a Finals rematch and the Lakers hosting the Bulls. The hype for those games, coupled with the holiday, could make for one of the most anticipated opening days for the NBA in years.

Rajon Rondo‘s charity event was nice, but it was an unfulfilling replacement to real games.

After the tentative agreement was announced Saturday, players and owners expressed eagerness to get back to work. More importantly, all the workers who don’t make millions or billions of dollars, who work at the concessions stands and in the gift shops, can get back to work, too.

Some fans feared there would not be a season at all, while others were so engrossed in football, hockey and college basketball that they hardly noticed the lack of NBA games. All the while, the Bruins have earned points in 11 straight games, as you may have noticed.
