Will Tyler Seguin or Phil Kessel Have More Points This Season? For as long as they remain with their respective teams, Phil Kessel and Tyler Seguin will remain connected. Whether that’s really fair can be debated, but when the two take the ice Wednesday night in Toronto and again Saturday night in Boston, they’ll once again be a major storyline.

That’s because, of course, Kessel was traded from Boston to Toronto in exchange for the pick that eventually gave the Bruins the ability to draft the highly touted Seguin. Now in his second year, and after an impressive couple of games on the B’s way to the Stanley Cup, Seguin is becoming a bona fide superstar.

The 19-year-old who graduated from high school in 2010 has 12 goals and 11 assists, leading the defending Cup champions in points. He’s not just a one-way player, either, as his plus-19 rating leads the entire league (by a healthy margin as well).

Kessel, meanwhile, leads the league in goals with 16 and points with 31, but his plus-4 rating indicates he’s still focused almost entirely on his offensive game.

With Kessel now in his sixth NHL season, averaging 49 points per year in his first five, you pretty much know what to expect. With Seguin just now emerging as a star, there’s much more left to the imagination. Do you think the kid has a chance to leapfrog Kessel in the points department by the time the playoffs roll around?

Who will have more points at the end of the 2011-12 NHL season?
