Patriots quarterback Tom Brady addressed that on Monday in his weekly appearance on The Dennis & Callahan Morning Show on WEEI.
“I wish [Sunday] we scored in the mid-40s,” said Brady. “That’s what I really wish we did. We had opportunities to do it. The only people that have really have stopped us are ourselves, and our mistakes and the things that we’re not really playing up to our level of expectations.”
Those expectations were set high last season when Tom Brady threw just four interceptions, a total he matched in the span of one game against the Bills.
The scary part? There may be no margin for error when this team gets into games in January. Brady knows that, and addressed it in the following breath.
“It’s something that we talk about every week and something that we’ve just got to do a better job at,” added Brady. “Because we sit here at 10-3, and yeah, we’re in a good position, but we’ve got to really start playing our best brand of football.”
One guy who has been playing his best brand of football all season long is tight end Rob Gronkowski, who officially broke the record for receiving touchdowns in a single season by a tight end with his 14th against the Redskins, and reeled in a second touchdown to mark his sixth game with two or more receiving touchdowns this season.
“I think the thing that I’ve been most impressed about with him is since the day he got here, he’s trended upwards,” said Brady. “Every day. He never really makes the same mistake twice. As a young player, look, you have a lot of good plays and then you have a lot of bad plays, really just because of a lack of experience. But then as you make mistakes and you learn from those mistakes, you make improvements. And he’s never really regressed.”
If Gronkowski continues on his upward trend, the sky is the limit for him and the Patriots offense.
