Alex McLeish: No Contact About Darren Bent Transfer From Liverpool Alex McLeish poured cold water on Liverpool's reported interest in striker Darren Bent. The Aston Villa manager told Sky Sports that LFC has not contacted him about signing the England international, and he has no interest in selling the player.

"We've not heard a thing from Liverpool," McLeish said. "I'm aware of the speculation. But there has been no contact with this club and I think you've had three parties telling you that.

"But, even if there was contact, we would not entertain that [selling Bent]. We wouldn't want to entertain selling our top scorer of last season. He is a prolific marksman."

Bent joined Villa last January for £18 million ($27.8 million), but he could be had for less than that price. Liverpool reportedly considered making a move for him before he joined Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old striker has played in the Premier League for Ipswich, Charlton, Tottenham, Sunderland and Villa.
