Brad Marchand will reportedly have a phone hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan on Monday. And it wouldn't be all that surprising if the Bruins winger is forced to miss a few games.
The Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa dropped by NESN Daily on Sunday to discuss Marchand's hearing, during which he discussed the young forward's history as a repeat offender. Because Marchand's been fined and suspended in the past, and because Canucks defenseman Sami Salo was injured as a result of Saturday's hit, there's a good chance the Bruins agitator will receive some sort of suspension.
Shinzawa notes that one positive sign for Marchand, though, is that his hearing is via telephone, meaning his suspension will likely be five games or less. A face-to-face meeting with Shanahan would have been an indication that a more lengthy ban was on the horizon.
