Oliver Wahlstrom is no stranger to turning heads at the TD Bank Mini 1-on-1 tournament, as the young phenom tallied the tourney’s most dazzling goal two summers ago.
His most recent goal, however, which capped off the Portland Junior Pirates’ championship victory in the boys 10-and-under bracket, was even crazier.
With a 2-0 lead and the shootout well in hand on the TD Garden ice in Boston, Wahlstrom decided to show off the skills that have had fans’ jaws dropping since he burst onto the TD Bank Mini 1-on-1 scene in August 2010. He scooped up the puck on the blade of his stick, twirled it around and buried it in the back of the net lacrosse-style.
Yes, folks. The goal is legal, and it’s the type of goal that’s amazing even for an NHL player, never mind someone who won’t even have his driver’s license for another six years.
