It didn't take long for things to heat up at TD Garden on Saturday, as the Bruins and Canucks engaged in a line brawl in the first period of their Stanley Cup rematch.
The result was Milan Lucic receiving a game misconduct for what the referees thought was leaving the bench to join in the rumble. Video has since revealed that Lucic was on the ice legally when he joined in the melee and the misconduct has been rescinded, but the damage has been done, as the Bruins were forced to play the rest of the game without their big forward.
Following the game, Shawn Thornton discussed the rumble, and he said he felt bad for Lucic, who was sticking up for a teammate. Head coach Claude Julien expressed similar sentiments and discussed how unfortunate it was that he was sent to the locker room despite not doing anything wrong.
