Can the Bruins Repeat as Stanley Cup Champions With Their Current Roster? The last time the Bruins won two games in a row was way back on Jan. 12, after an emotional win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Since then, injuries to Rich Peverley and Nathan Horton have robbed the B’s of some much-needed firepower and the team has sputtered and struggled while treading water in the standings.

The Bruins are still in second place in the Eastern Conference and even though the Ottawa Senators are threatening for the Northeast Division title, Boston still has three games in hand on the upstart Sens. However, with the time remaining until the trade deadline now measured in hours instead of days, time is running out for the Bruins to bring in any fresh faces for another Cup run.

On the one hand, the Bruins roster is almost entirely the same as the one victorious in Vancouver back in June. On the other, the team’s recent play suggests that relying on Tim Thomas to get hot again in the playoffs might not be the wisest of moves.

There’s plenty of time left for the Bruins to get healthy and maybe that’s all they need to do for their playoff prep. Or, adding another body or two before the deadline on Monday could be in the cards.
