Carlos Tevez has apologized for walking out on Manchester City earlier this season. The former City captain said "sorry" to his teammates, manager and fans for his actions, according to the club website.
"I wish to apologize sincerely and unreservedly to everybody I have let down and to whom my actions over the last few months have caused offence," Tevez said. "My wish is to concentrate on playing football for Manchester City Football Club."
Tevez left the club without permission in early November, and didn't return for over three months. He had been frozen out of the team since September after he refused his manager Roberto Mancini's orders to warm up during a UEFA Champions League game.
He returned to England last week, and had been practicing at City's facilities by himself. The Argentine international has reportedly lost over £10 million ($17 million) during his absence.
After the September incident, Mancini said he would never play for the club again. But he backtracked in November — before Tevez walked out on the team — saying he would allow Tevez back into the team if he apologized.
The latest twist in the ongoing saga could pave the way for the Argentine striker's return to the first team.
"He has since begun a training program designed to return him to optimum fitness," the City statement said.
